Corbett National Park is located in Nainital district of Uttarakhand and was established in 1936 in order to protect the endangered species, Bengal Tiger. It was named after the British-Indian naturalist and hunter, Jim Corbett who played an important role in creating this national reserve. About 73% of the park is covered by dense forests while 10 % consists of grasslands. It is a popular destination among tourists and wildlife lovers with its vast hilly area, riverine belts, marshy depressions, grasslands and lakes. Note: Corbett National Park remains open throughout the year for the visitors from Jhirna zone but the best time to visit Corbett is from 15th November to 15th June.
