Thimphu, Punakha and Paro Tour Itinerary

Day 1
On arrival at NJP Railway Station / IXB airport and transfer to Phuentsholing/Jaigaon. Jaigaon & Phuentsholing are the commercial hubs on either side of India and Bhutan respectively. Both these towns are epic example of border towns for their friendly relationship and diverse cultural exchange in peace and harmony. Night stay at Phuentsholing.
Day 2
After breakfast we complete the immigration formalities. Check out from hotel and transfer to Thimphu. Drive to Thimphu is a beautiful journey amidst dense green woods on the Himalayan Mountains with several waterfalls sought by the road side. Cloudy weather with fog in between enhances the pleasure of journey. A short break may be taken for a cup of ‘Suja’ (Bhutanese tea) and noodles. Evening at leisure. Night stay at Thimphu.
Day 3
The capital of Bhutan is also the home to the Royal family. We visit some of the sites of religious nature Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang). It holds one of the largest Buddha’s statue in the country at 169 feet (51.5m), made of bronze and gilded in gold. Memorial Chorten, also known as the Thimphu Chorten. Simply Bhutan Museum where you can have a glimpse of day-to-day Bhutanese lifestyle. Takin Preserve – The Takin is the national animal of Bhutan and looks like a cross between a cow and a goat. The Institute for Zorig Chusum (commonly known as the Painting School). Zilukha Nunnery, Centenary Farmer’s Market. Sangaygang View Point, Folk Heritage Museum. Night stay at Thimphu.
Day 4
After early breakfast, drive up to Dochu-la pass (3,088m/ 10,130 ft.) stopping briefly here to take in the view and admire the chorten, mani wall, and prayer flags which decorate the highest point on the road. If skies are clear, the following peaks can be seen from this pass (left to right): Masagang (7,158m), Tsendagang (6,960m), Terigang (7,060m), Jejegangphugang (7,158 m), Kangphugang (7,170 m), Zongphugang (7,060 m), a table mountain that dominates the isolated region of Lunana - finally Gangkar puensum, the highest peak in Bhutan at 7,497m. Later visit to Punakha Dzong, ‘Palace of Great Happiness or Bliss’ followed by exploring the Punakha city center. After exploring the city center, we go on a short excursion to Chimi Lhakhang also called the Fertility temple. From there, we head to the popular suspension bridge. The views from here too, just like from most of Bhutan, are gorgeous. Night stay at Punakha.
Day 5
After breakfast excursion trip to dramatic landscapes of terraced farmland, deep river valleys, and perched farmhouses. Gangtey Valley, among Bhutan’s most pristine, unfolds unexpectedly: a wide, treeless expanse after dense forest, offering a rare sense of vastness in this tightly enclosed land.
A short hike from Gangtey Monastery along the picturesque Gangtey Natural Trail (1.5 hours) leads through pine forests and bamboo groves, revealing breathtaking views of the Phobjikha Valley. Explore Phobjikha Valley, a haven for endangered Black Necked Cranes during winter, nestled amidst the majestic Himalayas. Night stay at Punakha.
Day 6
After breakfast, drive to Paro. Later visit Bhutan’s oldest fort, the Simtokha Dzong. Visit to Ta Dzong, originally a watchtower and now home to the National Museum. And finally, visit Rinpung Dzong. Night halt at Paro.
Day 7
After breakfast embark on a driving excursion to Chelela pass. At an elevation of 3,988 meters, it is considered to be one of the highest motorable passes in Bhutan. About an hour’s drive along a thickly-forested road, this pass is a botanical paradise. En route also visit Dzongdrakha temple. Evening take a stroll around interesting city centre of Paro and visit the handicraft shop for your best gift choice from Bhutan. Night halt at Paro.
Day 8
After breakfast you will start trek to the Tiger’s Nest monastery, also known as the Taktshang Gompa. - From a distance, Bhutan's most iconic building seems to float, weightless, halfway up a sheer cliff-face, 900 meters (3,000 feet) above the floor of the Paro Valley. As you wind your way breathlessly up the long, steep path towards Taktsang Lhakhang, the monastery periodically reveals itself, rising out of the forest, closer and more solid with each re-appearance. After that drive to hotel, night halt at Paro.
Day 9
After breakfast transfer to Phuentsholing. En route take a short stop at Chuzom, the confluence of Paro and Thimphu rivers with three different styles of stupas adorn this confluence. Drive further through Chapcha and later take glimpse of famous Chukha Dam and the magnificent Vince waterfall before Gedu town. Arrive & Night halt at Phuentsholing.
Day 10
After breakfast check out from the hotel & drive to Bagdogra Airport / Hasimara or NJP Rail Station for onward journey. Happy Tour End~~~~
